86302 - ECHO/PULSE - Connect History tab error - "<Notebook name & page #> could not be sent. If the document is open, close it before syncing again."

I keep seeing this error message in the Connect History tab - "<Notebook name & page #> could not be sent.  If the document is open, close it before syncing again."

If you keep seeing this error message in the Connect "History" tab:

"<Notebook name & page #> could not be sent.  If the document is open, close it before syncing again."

…this occurs when:

  1. Using Connect on your smartpen, you send a page to your Computer as a Pencast PDF or PDF.
  2. You open that PDF document in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro to view it.
  3. You undock your smartpen and make some changes to the page (additional notes for example).
  4. You dock your smartpen to transfer the changes made to the page.

Because the document was still open in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro, the changes that were made to the page will not be updated in the PDF document

Closing Adobe Reader or Acrobat Pro will prevent this from occurring in the future.

If you are not making changes to a PDF page saved to your computer but instead are seeing this error after sending to a Connector using your smartpen, this may be an issue with a send command that somehow failed.  The error will continue to appear until you clear the send command that was queued but failed to send the page(s).  To clear the page(s) from your smartpen send queue so you can resend them please see 28008 - Using the smartpen Connect application "Reset" function.
