80920 - ECHO/PULSE - Authorizing Echo Desktop
What does it mean when I "Authorize Echo Desktop"?
As a Livescribe user your Livescribe tools link to each other using the same email address and password. This means that your smartpen registration and your installations of Echo Desktop all identify themselves to each other using the same email address and password.
Without that email and password, no one else will be able to dock your smartpen to an unauthorized version of Echo Desktop and transfer your smartpen data.
When you use Echo Desktop on a computer for the first time and dock your smartpen, Echo Desktop will ask you to log on to your Livescribe existing account or create a new one. After doing so, that installation of Echo Desktop will be authorized for (or linked to) your account.
You can use Echo Desktop on as many computers as you like, and you can use as many smartpens as you like. Just ensure that when you authorize Echo Desktop and register your smartpen(s), that you use the same email address and password as your Livescribe account.
