162000 - Removing paragraph line breaks from Livescribe+ or MyScript notes exported to Word or Text Editor

After transcribing my handwriting into text using Livescribe+ (Livescribe 3 smartpens) / MyScript for Livescribe (Echo/Pulse smartpens), I exported the notes to Microsoft Word (Windows or Mac) / Text Editor (Mac) but the text is in a column format and does not run together.  How do I remove the paragraph line breaks all at once in order to wrap the text into one paragraph?

To remove the paragraph line breaks from the Livescribe+ or MyScript for Livescribe text that was exported into Microsoft Word (Windows or Mac) or Text Editor (Mac), please follow the steps below.

NOTE: This will merge all the notes from that page into one paragraph.  You may need to go back through the document to add intended line breaks, but this will eliminate the need to delete the break at the end of each line of text manually.

Word - Windows or Mac:

  1. Click somewhere on the open Word document.
  2. Press "Ctrl" (Windows) / "command" (Mac) and "F" on your keyboard to open a "Find and Replace" window.
  3. Click the "Replace" tab/button.
  4. Click in the "Find what:" field and press "Shift" and "6" on your keyboard at the same time.  This will create the "^" symbol.  Then press "P".  You will see "^p" in this field now.
  5. Click in the "Replace with:" field and press "Shift" and "6" on your keyboard at the same time.  Then press "S".  You will see "^s" in this field now.
  6. Click the "Replace All" button.

All of the paragraph line breaks will be replaced with spaces and your document will now appear as one paragraph.

Text Editor - Mac:

  1. Click somewhere on the open Text Editor document.
  2. Using your mouse, highlight the form feed/carriage returns by starting at the end of one line and highlighting to the beginning of the next line.
  3. Press "command" and "C" on your keyboard to copy the form feed/carriage returns.
  4. Press "command" and "F" on your keyboard to open a "Find" window.
  5. Click in the "Find:" field and press "command" and "V" on your keyboard to paste the form feed/carriage returns.
  6. Click in the "Replace with:" field and press the spacebar on your keyboard.
  7. Click the "Replace All" button.

All of the paragraph line breaks will be replaced with spaces and your document will now appear as one paragraph.
