80411 - ECHO/PULSE - Removing a smartpen from Echo Desktop

How do I remove a smartpen from my Echo or Livescribe Desktop?

It is not recommended that you remove a smartpen from Windows Echo or Livescribe Desktop unless you are sure you will not need any of the active data that was transferred from that smartpen to Echo /Livescribe Desktop.

If you decide you still want to remove the smartpen:

Windows Users

1. Undock your smartpen from the charging cable.
2. If you have more than one smartpen, select the smartpen you want to remove from the selector list located in the upper right of Echo or Livescribe Desktop.
3. From the top menu options select the "Tools > Smartpen > Remove…"
4. A Remove Smartpen window will appear.   Either click "Delete Data" to remove all of the active notes and sessions for that smartpen from Echo/Livescribe Desktop or click "Retain Data" to save the notes and sessions in the Archived section of your library.
5. You will be prompted with "Are you sure you want to remove smartpen '<smartpen name>' from Echo/Livescribe Desktop?"  Click "OK" if you wish to remove the smartpen.  A confirmation message will appear.  Click "OK" to close the message window.

NOTE: If you archived notebooks that were on this smartpen, those archived notebooks will not be deleted even if you selected "Delete Data".

Mac Users

1. Undock your smartpen from the charging cable.
2. If you have more than one smartpen, from the Navigation pane on the left select a notebook that appears under the name of the smartpen you want to remove.
3. From the top menu options select the "Tools > Smartpen > Remove…"
4. A Remove Smartpen window will appear.   Click the "Remove Smartpen and Delete Data" button.  
5. You will not get a warning message to confirm the removal of the smartpen or its related data from Echo/Livescribe Desktop.  The smartpen and active notebooks will simply disappear.

NOTE: If you archived notebooks that were previously on the smartpen, those archived notebooks will also be deleted.
