Livescribe+ Desktop (Mac) - Renaming data folder

If you're experiencing issues with Livescribe+ Desktop or need to reset the data folder, follow the steps below to rename the Livescribe+ data folder. This process will create a backup of the original folder while allowing the application to generate a new one.


Steps to Rename the Livescribe+ Data Folder:

  1. Close the Livescribe+ Desktop Application

    Ensure that the Livescribe+ Desktop app is not running. If it is, close the application completely.

  2. Detach the Pen

    If your pen is connected to your Mac, disconnect it before proceeding.

  3. Open Finder

    On your Mac, open Finder.

    Navigate to the Application Support Folder

    • In Finder, go to the Go menu at the top of the screen and select Go to Folder… from the dropdown.
    • In the dialog box, type the following and press Enter:
      • Type in: ~/Library/Application Support
  1. Locate the Livescribe+ Data Folder

    In the Application Support folder, find the folder named Livescribe+ Desktop.

    Rename the Livescribe+ Data Folder

    • Right-click (or Control-click) on the Livescribe+ Desktop folder.
    • Select Rename and change the name to Livescribe+ Desktop_backup.
  2. Open Livescribe+ Desktop

    Launch the Livescribe+ Desktop application again.

  3. Reconnect the Pen

    Attach your Livescribe pen via USB to your Mac. The application will create a new Livescribe+ data folder, and your pen should now sync correctly.


Why Rename the Folder?

Renaming the Livescribe+ Desktop folder creates a backup of your existing data. The Livescribe+ Desktop application will generate a fresh folder, which can resolve issues related to corrupted files or syncing problems. If necessary, you can revert to the original folder by renaming it back to Livescribe+ Desktop.
