Function of the Home buttons and light circle printed above the Nav Plus

What does the light circle above the Nav Plus do?

Home buttons are printed in most Livescribe Dot Paper products.

In some notebooks the Home button is a house icon.

In other notebooks the light circle just above and to the right of the Nav Plus is the Home button.

When you power on your smartpen, it starts up in a Home state. In this state, the smartpen screen shows the current time and battery status.  From the Home state, you can capture notes, but no apps are running.

At any time, you can return your smartpen to the Home state by tapping on a Home button. This quits the currently-running app and returns the smartpen to the Home screen. Livescribe recommends using the Home button whenever you want to quit an app and start another.

You can also assign a shortcut to the Home button to quick launch an application or command.  To do so:

  1. Double-tap on the center of the Nav Plus.
  2. Tap the down arrow until you reach "Shortcut Buttons".
  3. Tap the right-arrow to see the "Assign Home Button…" option.
  4. Tap the right-arrow again.
  5. Write the app name or the command and double-tap.

Your Home button is now assigned to that application or Quick Command.  A single tap of the Home button puts the pen back to its Home state.  A double-tap of the Home button launches the app or Quick Command.
