ECHO/PULSE - Hours of smartpen audio recording storage available
How many hours of audio recordings will fit on my smartpen?
The number of hours of audio that will fit on your smartpen depends on the smartpen memory storage and the quality level you record at.
- Do you have a 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, or 8 GB smartpen?
- Are you recording in mono with the smartpen microphone or in stereo with the headset ear buds (40000 - What is the Livescribe smartpen 3D recording headset?)?
- Are you recording audio quality at LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH (medium is the default setting)?
Total Approximate Hours of Recording Time:
Tap the "storage" button once to display the amount of MB's still available. NOTE: Due to the file system that is necessary for the smartpen to function, the amount of storage available will never equal the total memory size of the smartpen (e.g. a new 8 GB Echo smartpen will show approximately 6.7 GB of space available prior to taking any notes or making any recordings. This is normal. Part of the storage is allotted to firmware, part is allotted to ink strokes, and the rest is allotted to audio. The allotment for audio is the number you see when checking storage levels). You can always check the remaining amount of storage in MB's as well as hours and minutes for the recording level you are currently using. To do so, open a notebook to the inside front cover and:
- Tap the "storage" button a second time to display the amount of recording time still available.
